Surely Not!

Really? I spotted this on the American Apparel website and laughed. I don't think this will look cute on anyone, not even the coolest lady, actually the only person that springs to mind who could possibly look ok in a scrunchie is Whitney from The City and perhaps Correy Kennedy. Maybe. I'd have to see it. And I tried to find a picture but nope. If you find one email me!!!

I have terrible photos from my childhood of me sporting homemade scrunchies that match my outfit. I remember my Mum made them from all her old patchwork fabric. Frightening! I don't remeber this from SATC but this is quite hilarious!

It was all Yellow...

As you know I quite enjoy Natalie Portman and a friend sent me this pic of her. And I was quite shocked! I wouldn't have thought she'd be a yellow nail-polish wearer! She gets away with it though without it looking tacky, cheessy or twee which I'm pretty sure is what I'd look like if I sported this colour! I wonder if this is whats 'in' at the moment in the world of nailpolish?

I do LOVE nail polish at the moment, I must admit. Not sure why! Maybe it's because I have been typing lots lately and enjoy capturing a pretty painted nail when I glance at the keyboard. I have been enjoying these colours lately dark plums , light solid and barbie pinks. But I would love to try that mushroom colour, blue and lilac!

P.S: Maybe I should try this! haha just joking! Oh Heidi when will you learn- though I love your tackiness!

Tilly Bloom!

We got this perculiar jewellery by Tilly Bloom (all the way from Brooklyn, US) into the shop last week and its quite great so I thought I'd share it with you! The kitty dressed up makes me laugh! I heart it!

Gullig! (thats swedish for cute!)

I would like to drink from this cup and eat from this plate! These lovely things are by the talented and super cool Swedish duo Camilla and Elisabeth who run Studio Violet! I know moustache paraphernalia seems to be in the 'in' thing at the moment (I am seeing necklaces galore!)-just like last season it was wolfies and the season before it was owls! Us lala girls like these cutesy things all the time (I especially enjoy everything deer-like!)

Studio Violet are so cute they have re-claimed porcelain cups, teapots and plates and worked their magic and waaala nifty little pieces of art. Oh, I want to go to Sweden!

You Smell

Last night I went out for a delightful dinner of tapas with my girlfriends at Imp Cafe (oh the food was delish and they do the best breakfasts too!) and a funny thing happened! Our lovely waiter came to take our order and he's like"Which one of you lovely ladies are wearing Lolita Lempicka perfume?" I was like me!!!

Now, this man was a really manly man (a tall, dark, chest-hair type) and us girls were really impressed he not only knew the name of my perfume but without a pause went on to list off 5 other scents he considered 'sexy and irresistible" (they included Gucci Rush, Versace- the one in the woman torso bottle and dolce&gabbana Light Blue and a few more neither of us girls could remember!) I was not only chuffed (because I agree Lolita Lempicka is one of my favourite perfumes) but have to say his girlfriend is one lucky lady as her man has a fantastic taste in smells!

Our waiters' observation lead into a deep discussion about whether your scent makes you more attractive and had any of us found 'our' scent. I have so many perfumes and can't really say I have found the one and only scent that defines me as a woman. But out of my collection I have a top 3 I really enjoy wearing!
  1. Lolita Lempicka (for obvious reasons!!!!)
  2. Sun Moon Star by Karl Lagerfeld (long lasting and powerful-I couldn't find the ad campaign for this, well it was launched in 1994!)
  3. Daisy by Marc Jacobs (such a nice everyday perfume, love the bottle + their ad campaign!

One of my girlfriends only wears Issey Miyake- its so her, and when I smell Elizabeth Arden Red Door it instantly reminds me of my mum and when I get a whiff of Tommy Girl is reminds me of being a teen. I think the concept of having a distinct fragrance is really beautiful and I can see why so many celebrities create their own! I just wonder if they actually wear it.... Do you have a favourite fragrance?

P.S I regret not asking our waiter what man perfume he wore...maybe I'll go back for breakfast tomorrow....haha

Something Pretty

I really liked this shoot of Mandy Moore, not sure whats it from or how old it is but its pretty! I like that feather head thing, very Bat for Lashes...that is all have a lovely Saturday night! xox

Bow-itful

How friggin' cute is this hat/bow creation made from an old vintage felt hat?! The always-clever Emmerson Merrick from An Apple a Day made it herself.

I admit I'm kinda over bows, I mean I still think they are super cute but I personally feel a little twee when I try to wear one and never quite make it out the door with one on. I guess it just reminds me of my school days (blazers, straw hats, emblems, green bows, and nurse-like uniforms!) and I'm afraid it was quite some years ago...

I think if I was 17 again at this very point of time a bow would be a staple in my daily styling with the likes of Blair Waldorf and Lauren Conrad sporting the never-dying trend weekly on their respective shows- the 17-year-old me would be a diehard fan. I was reading some interview with Leighton Meester and she said that wearing a bow (when she is playing Blair) is essential as it's like wearing a crown. Interesting.

I think this mainstream trend is perhaps on the way out (maybe its already passed) but I think it may always be there for us vintage lovers but not necessarily on our heads I think more comfortably tied at our necks, waists, cuffs or feet! But if I was going to don a bow on my head it would be this one!

LOL

I read lots of blogs and today this post on Coco Rochas blog Oh So Coco made me laugh out loud....I want one of those kitties...no really I do...I had this friend who had this funny little dog called Cisco and he had a bald chest kinda like a puppies belly. Have you petted a dogs belly? Its all smooth and funny like thats what I imagine petting Gollum (he is actually model Behati pet!) would be like...like velvet!

P.S Coco Rocha is still one of my fave supermodels at the moment! She is a chameleon!

ooooh looksee!

2 posts in one day! Look what I found....swoon she looks so pretty! That skirt is soooo cute I think we have a vintage look-a-like at the shop though its a little longer!

Confessions of a Disappointment...

So I already knew this film was going to be letdown but a small part of me hoped everyone was wrong and I would be as smitten as I was when I read the book! Alas, they were right... I think the biggest problem was casting Isla Fisher as Rebecca- big mistake! I didn't warm to her at all and I didn't really lust after anything she bought-though that green scarf was quite lovely I guess! I think her housemate Suze was way more interesting in my opinion- Krysten Ritter she is super and I enjoyed her style the most! I wanted to see more of her and less of Isla. Have you seen it? What did you think?
P.S: I also went and saw 'The Boat that Rocked' and LOVED it-amazing 60's fashion-sigh...

Sweet Treats

I tried to sleep in today but it didn't really work but it's so nice not to wake up to an alarm and just get up because I want to! So I have 4 days in total of holiday bliss and I am going to fill them with eating great food, hanging out with nice people, maybe a spot of shopping and lots of reading and mooching in the sun!

Last night I had some drinks with some friends and Kitty and our friend P.Dot baked some sweet easter treats- they were inspired by this amazing New York bake house called Elleni's! They made little carrots, bunnies, easter eggs and fluffy lamb cookies! They looked too good to eat but I ate them anyways and they tasted divine! Happy Easter fellow blog lovers! I hope you a super relaxing holiday!

Able and Game's kooky cards delivered on our doorstep this week. They are so cute they make me want to cry! Our fave is "I want you as my Amazing Race partner" hahaha I love that show! There are plenty more that may tickle you pink so check them out on our online store!

In other news, a friend of mine the other day told me about Louise Weavers work and they thought that I would dig it so I checked it out today and boy its gold! Knitted animals galore! I really want one for my house, I wonder if she would make me a knitted deer?!

Leave your Hat on....

As we bid farewell to daylight saving I have found that by 6:45pm its dark, kinda chilly and I find myself snuggling up in a woolen cardy! I must say, its also quite refreshing- by the end of summer I seem to be looking forward to playing board games by the heater, watching movies while its pouring down with rain and of course winter clothes-yay! Looks like we'll be donning a beret this winter just like Rachel, Nicole and Blair! We just got some cute-as-pie beanies, scarves and mittens in the store by Aussie label SD so hopefully the season will change and we can wear our winter warmers soon!

P.S How cute is Harlow-awww!

Money Bags

We like art and we like accessories and the lovely people at Poketo have created these super-cool wallets so we can enjoy both things at once! Lucky us! We actually have Catherine Campbells prints in store so when we stumbled across these wallets we were like we gotta get them for the shop! They actually did an Australian Series which feature the lovely works by artists from all over Australia including Eveline Tarunadjaja (we have her calendas in store, too!-holy moly-Poketo is made for Lala!), Fontaine Anderson and many more!

They also had cute mugs which we ordered too! Kitty was telling me the other day about how much she wants a mug for her office well now we can both have one- the hard part is choosing! (but I think the Swan one is pretty damn sweet!)
