Almost Famous

I am really excited about this! It's just been announced that Zooey Deschanel (loves!!! she is perfect for this role being musically gifted and married to Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard!) has signed on to star in a new HBO TV show pilot inspired by the book 'I'm with the Band: Confessions of a Groupie' written by Pamela Des Barres who was one of the influences for Penny Lane in Almost Famous!!! This is going to be gold, I'm picturing super great fashion from the 60's, hot musicians and great tunes! Can not wait, I soooo hope it gets picked up by a network! Fingers crossed!

Candy Mountain

I've mentioned this before on our blog- we enjoy trashy pop-culture TV. We can't help it, we are addicted! So when I read that Lauren Conrad was leaving The Hills and writing a series of books about a 'fictional' character who stars in her own reality TV show. I got a little excited. Ha-ha! I mean I was sad she was leaving the show but the drama will continue I'm sure of it!

So when I got emailed an excerpt from the book which is being launched on 24th June in Australia-I jumped for joy as once I finished reading it I instantly wanted more! I have already got my name on the waiting list...yep there is one! Click here for the full excerpt! My only disappointment was the characters name. Jane. I must say its a little bland...If I was writing a book about my life I would make my character have some way cool, awesome name like- Lola, Fern or Hazel!

This part made me laugh...

"What's wrong with white?" Jane asked.
"It just doesn't look great on camera. Color looks way better."
Jane looked down at the summery white lace dress she was wearing. Crap, she thought.

It was all Yellow...

As you know I quite enjoy Natalie Portman and a friend sent me this pic of her. And I was quite shocked! I wouldn't have thought she'd be a yellow nail-polish wearer! She gets away with it though without it looking tacky, cheessy or twee which I'm pretty sure is what I'd look like if I sported this colour! I wonder if this is whats 'in' at the moment in the world of nailpolish?

I do LOVE nail polish at the moment, I must admit. Not sure why! Maybe it's because I have been typing lots lately and enjoy capturing a pretty painted nail when I glance at the keyboard. I have been enjoying these colours lately dark plums , light solid and barbie pinks. But I would love to try that mushroom colour, blue and lilac!

P.S: Maybe I should try this! haha just joking! Oh Heidi when will you learn- though I love your tackiness!

Confessions of a Disappointment...

So I already knew this film was going to be letdown but a small part of me hoped everyone was wrong and I would be as smitten as I was when I read the book! Alas, they were right... I think the biggest problem was casting Isla Fisher as Rebecca- big mistake! I didn't warm to her at all and I didn't really lust after anything she bought-though that green scarf was quite lovely I guess! I think her housemate Suze was way more interesting in my opinion- Krysten Ritter she is super and I enjoyed her style the most! I wanted to see more of her and less of Isla. Have you seen it? What did you think?
P.S: I also went and saw 'The Boat that Rocked' and LOVED it-amazing 60's fashion-sigh...

Leave your Hat on....

As we bid farewell to daylight saving I have found that by 6:45pm its dark, kinda chilly and I find myself snuggling up in a woolen cardy! I must say, its also quite refreshing- by the end of summer I seem to be looking forward to playing board games by the heater, watching movies while its pouring down with rain and of course winter clothes-yay! Looks like we'll be donning a beret this winter just like Rachel, Nicole and Blair! We just got some cute-as-pie beanies, scarves and mittens in the store by Aussie label SD so hopefully the season will change and we can wear our winter warmers soon!

P.S How cute is Harlow-awww!

Would you beliEVE it?

So funniest thing happens last night...I went and saw Flickerfest @ Camelot Outdoor (oh super lovely free drinks and pizza yum!) and I am watching this film called 'Eve' which is about this grandaughter who is dragged along on her grandma's date! It stars that girl from the Wackness and Juno- Olivia Thirbly and Lauren Bacall (who is so still very beautiful) and the cute and v. charming Ben Gazzara. After it finished I am thinking to myself 'Awww that was my favourite!" and then guess who directed it?! Natalie Portman-no wonder I haven't seen her in anything recent lately she is making cute super cool films! I guess thats also why she had such great actors and had the very talented Sufjan Stevens do the soundtrack they are probably all friends but regardless I think she tells a lovely story! Tops!!!!
P.S Oh yeah Flickerfest runs all weekend and has different films each night! I think I might go on Saturday night too!
P.P.S Oh yeah how pretty does she look with long hair-yeah?

Rap-A-Tap-Tap

I was checking out facebook yesterday and one of my friends posted this video of Natalie Portman on Saturday Night Live rapping. It. is. pretty. hilarious. Natalie Portman is so super cute and she gets all gangster on us and its almost shocking. I haven't really loved her in anything recently since maybe Garden State-oh Zach Braff! Though I did quite like her in Mr Magoriums Wonder Emporium which I saw on the plane to Bali but then again I am quite partial to a kid movie I must say! I'm not sure I really enjoy her crazy short hair thing she has going on...but either way she is way cool and totally pretty and got to make out with Gael Garcia Bernal, Jake Gyllenhaal and Devendra Banheart! Lucky lady...
