its means 'shady'

I am pretty darn excited about seeing the new film by Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet called Micmacs (meaning 'shady'!). Woo hoo! It will be playing as part of the French Film Festival March 17-31 at Paradiso in Northbridge!

lady dior

How amazing is this? Collaboration between Franz Ferdinand & actress Marion Cottilard! She is amazingly beautiful! La Vie En Rose is one of my favourite movies...!

P.S I saw here in 'Nine' last night and it was quite underwhelming (not her performance- she was beautiful!) but the whole movie was blah!

I heart Marc

So I have been watching a bunch on fashion related movies over the last couple of days and its been inspiring I must say! I watched the 1996 documentary Catwalk which follows around model Christy Turlington. It was light-hearted and fun to see all the young supermodels and designers! I am in love with designer Isaac Mizrahi- so funny! I liked this doco but didn't love it!

However today I finished watching the documentary Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton which I LOVED! Apparently he never lets anyone ever film him so this was quite interesting and candid. He is also soooo super cute and easy on the eye! He is so young, so New York and so super cool! If you haven't seen this you should!

Next on my list is Pret-a-Porter which I haven't seen for years! If you have a must-see fashion film let me know!!!

500 Days of Summer

So I have just finished watching the 2nd season of Weeds again and had totally forgotten that Zooey Deschanel was in it and how much I looove her (girl crush). So I was wondering what she had been up to lately and this is what everyone from Sundance is raving about, looks like it has a release date of 17th September in Australia yay.

Soda-pop and Corn-dogs!

Seriously, Adventureland is one of the funniest movies I've seen this year. Big call, I know but it has everything I look for in a movie. Quirky characters- tick, cute geek-chic boys-tick, teen angst-tick, laugh out loud line-tick! Not to mention its set in the 1980's -though cleverly done and v. subtle! I completely endorse this film, ha-ha!
It was directed by Greg Mottola who was behind Superbad which I thought that was pretty funny, too. I think it has a Freak and Geek flavour and it was funny to see a grown up 'Bill' (played by Martin Starr) in Adventureland, he is hilarious!
I also formed a little crush on the Jesse Eisenberg, too. He is my new Hollywood hottie! Tee hee! It had the most limited release and I can't figure out why, we had to trek to Readings to see but boy, was it worth it! Oh, it was so whimsical and nostalgic!

Confessions of a Disappointment...

So I already knew this film was going to be letdown but a small part of me hoped everyone was wrong and I would be as smitten as I was when I read the book! Alas, they were right... I think the biggest problem was casting Isla Fisher as Rebecca- big mistake! I didn't warm to her at all and I didn't really lust after anything she bought-though that green scarf was quite lovely I guess! I think her housemate Suze was way more interesting in my opinion- Krysten Ritter she is super and I enjoyed her style the most! I wanted to see more of her and less of Isla. Have you seen it? What did you think?
P.S: I also went and saw 'The Boat that Rocked' and LOVED it-amazing 60's fashion-sigh...

Who would play you?

I was watching One Tree Hill the other day (hey, no judgement!) and Lucas was casting all his friends in the movie he making of their lifes (oh if you haven't wathced this season its like 5 years in the future and Lucas is engaged to Peyton and Peyton is with child and Lucas is like a famous author and his book is being made into a movie! hahaha) This episode reminded me of how Kitty and I used to play this game when we were bored..."If someone was going to play you in a movie who would they cast?" Obiviously they can be hotter than you actually are but should probably have the same style, hair or vibe as you.
  1. If I was casting Kitty in a movie I would pick Michelle Williams or maybe Chloe Sevigny (but I think Chloe is little old now...) so maybe that french girl in that In Bruges/Harry Potter movie Clemence Posey. Kitty is pretty stylish and Michelle Williams could totally pull this off. She could be all sassy and New York chic. Yep I am feeling that!
  2. If I was going to pick someone for Mama Brite I would cast Sharon Stone or maybe Glen Close if Sharon was busy. I think Sharon Stone is way hot and Mama Brite is one foxy lady so thats pretty obvious.
  3. If I was going to pick someone for myself I it would be a toss up Zooey Deschanel or maybe Anne Hathaway. Remember they can be cooler and hotter than the real you! I think Zooey is kinda kooky and I wish my hair was cute like hers but I think Anne Hathaway is probably more me, she's a little more geekier and I really liked her in Devils Wears Prada
Who would play you?
P.S Some other games Kitty and I play is"If you were a dog what breed are you?" I think Kitty said I was a Black Labrador and I think Kitty would be one of those silky long haired french dogs I think they are called Afghans and our friend P.dot is a silky terrier- tee hee!
